Register for the job fair here.The Henry Luce Foundation Awards SBL $50,000 to Support Its International Texts and Traditions Initiative This grant supports an interdisciplinary initiative across the humanistic study of texts and canons that SBL will launch at the 2022 International Meeting in Salzburg, Austria. The program focuses on contextual, receptive, and productive practices that demonstrably and readily extend beyond biblical scholarship. The program will include themes, contours, and connections in areas such as law, literature, art, and East Asian traditions that intersect with sacralized and culturally privileged texts and their interpretative practices as well as the canons and curricula from which these are formed. The Society for Classical Studies, the International Qur’anic Studies Association, the Society for Targumic Studies, and the International Association for the History of Religions are among the first collaborators in this initiative. SBL is grateful for the Luce Foundation’s support of a program that will advance the status of biblical studies in a variety of intellectual, political, social, and cultural contexts. The Social Groups behind the Pentateuch
